Catherine Scottís documentary film Suncookers, about Solar Cookers Internationalís efforts to spread solar cooking and solar water pasteurization in Kenya, won the alternative energy category at the 2008 EarthVision International Environmental Film Festival in Santa Cruz, California. Cooking with solar energy has enormous potential for improving health and reducing environmental hazards associated with traditional open-fire cooking. It also address the problem of growing fuel shortages and the rising cost of food. This film follows Margaret Owino as she trains solar cooks in Nyakach, Kenya, and at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in northern Kenya.
